September 2005

050918: Small but important updates to the Linux ALSA notes for the CMI8738 chipset and sharing as well as to the sample asound_VIACMI.conf.
More comments on file system performance and a few other issues in my tech blog, and some more references added to the list of great but obscure compsci research.
050915: As usual this changelog gets updated a bit later than it should be, so quite a few changes have accumulated:
- Lots and lots of new entries in my tech blog mostly about quite interesting tests with Linux file systems.
- An updated version of the sample asound.conf to correct a mistake in the multichannel dmix virtual devices.
- A new section in the Linux notes on packet writing.
- Draft new pages (as yet unliked from the main index) on Linux virtualization and KDE configuration.
- Very many updates, with the addition of a lot of online and bibliographic references, to the list of great but obscure compsci research and some also to the list of great compsci literatur.
- Some scattered updates to the Linux fonts and Linux WiFi notes, and also to my shopping notes.

August 2005

050822: Many updates that I haven't recorded here for some weeks:
- Lots of new occasional notes for example on Debian repositories and APT, the FAVE Linux multimedia event in Bristol, usual memory related rants, the Fedora and OpenSUSE projects/foundations, ABIs and shared libraries, kernel clock tick rates, ...
- APT configuration examples.
- Sound latency.

June 2005

050630: Added an annotation about PCI latency timing issues and slower disk performance, and according updated the Linux sound latency notes.
050628: Quite a few changes, mostly of detail, in the past dozen days, like some small updates to the notes on Linux ALSA sound quality issues, some cleanups and additions to the notes on Linux font and some additions to the occasional notes (and rants).
050613: notes about tasteless, obnoxious inconsistencies in the new Fedora 4 release.
050612: some more annotations on memory mismanagement and on a rather interesting GLLUG meeting.
050609: added and cleaned up pointers to typefaces and fonts in the Linux font notes.
050601: expanded and clarified the Linux code pragmatics notes.

050531: Some updates and clarifications to the Linux ALSA sound notes and the asking for Linux help on IRC notes.

April 2005

050422: A bunch of updates in the past couple of weeks, including adding an annotation about prices of UNIX products around 1990, some greatly improved discussion of ALSA structure and terminology fundamentals (especially the terminology has been improved by making it more consistent with that used by many ALSA tools), and a much updated section on Mozilla and Firefox extensions that I like.
050407: Added a section on the peculiar properties of recording channels of the VIA sound chipsets to the the ALSA notes, annotations on Linux soft phones, and more annotation on Debian's annoyingly helpful scripts, and a review of Linphone and KPhone to the Linux notes and reviews.

March 2005

050329: Updated the Belkin F5D7630 review and notes with some very useful recent information.
050322: Several updates in the past few days, including annotations on on the surprising size of initrd in Debian, updates to the the ALSA notes and the multihead graphics notes, and some restructuring of the list of Mozilla and Firefox extensions I like.
050317: Several update in the past few days, including annotations on the ZyDAS 1201 driver, the number of patches in the major distro kernels, and several updates to the Linux WiFi and some to the Linux ALSA notes.

050215: annotation on the ridiculous number of seemingly important fixes for the 2.6.x kernels in the production SUSE and RedHat kernel packages.

050130: added some new small idioms to the list of latin phrases and a few other changes accumulated in the past few weeks, like some additions to the book reviews, some updates mostly about mplayer in the ALSA notes, updates to the APT and ALSA sample configuration files, and of course more entries in the annotations on sw and hw.
050109: found an excellent article on tomcat and web service performance and capacity.
050107: some sparse new resources for Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and Outlook.
050105: a few new phrases added to the list of latin phrases.

December 2004

041230: added a note on my troubles with the ACX100 driver and the Linux kernel.
041229: new note about more problems with Linux 2.6.x.
041228: important observation that Linux kernel mmeory allocation checking is far slower (and presumably more thorough) in 2.6.x than in previous kernel versions.
041218: added a link to a news posting about WiFi spectrum explaining why it has remained unlicensed, and comments.
041213: added a note on using the new ub driver for flash memory devices in Linux 2.6.10 and later, and updated accordingly the Linux notes.

November 2004

041130: updates to the Linux notes and the Windows notes.
041123: Some updates to the review of the Belkin F5D7630 ADSL/WiFi modem/router and some updates to the shopping notes.
041121: a new note on faster browsing thanks to smaller browser caches.
041120: A new note page on games and some updates to the software and hardware annotations.
041107: A new page of notes on Linux WiFi issues, and the new log of software and hardware annotations, which is a list of observations as I encounter various issues, listed by time rather than by topic.
Among other updates, some additions to the hardware notes and reviews, and some small revisions to the book reviews.

September 2004

040925: Small updates here and there, and update the style sheet to display the section table as a popup menu in advanced browsers supporting CSS 2.x, and added a JavaScript based styles menu to those few page (like this) that have a list of alternate styles for experimentation.
040921: noted that cheap PC133 SDR SDRAM can be bought at eBuyer.
040920: added quite a few new pages, creating a new section computer science notes in progress, and book reviews.
Also some small updates in the padt few days to the Linux sound ALSA and latency notes.
040915: oops, several updates this month: some extra details in the Linux ALSA notes, Linux sound latency notes, and some small updates to the shopping notes and the Linux notes and reviews.

040715: Not in this site, but I have somewhat expanded and added the ALSA Wiki in particular the ALSA troubleshooting and the ALSA sharing pages. I have also slighly updated my ALSA library sample config.
040715: Somewhat updated and expand the Debian review.
040715: Made some of the Matrix notes clearer and fixed some spelling.
040713: Added a note on incentives driving recruiters.
